This weekend, 2 more Belizeans passed away from the coronavirus, which now brings the country's total pandemic casualties to 30m, out of a total of 2,196 cases since March.
The first of the weekend deaths was a man who was in his 70's. He had been admitted to the Northern Regional Hospital with a diagnosis for COVID-19.
The second was a man from Unitedville in the Cayo District. He had been admitted to the KHMH's Intensive Care Unit due to cardiac complications he was experiencing when he was first admitted.
There are 2 other patients who currently remain intubated at the KHMH.
During Saturday's countrywide surveillance, the medical authorities focused on 406 samples, and of that amount, 51 persons tested positive. That;That's a 12.5% positivity rate.
6 came the Corozal District, and 26 from the Orange Walk District.
In the Belize District, there was 11 positive case detected: 1 from Belize City, 9 from San Pedro, and 1 more person who is a resident of Corozal Town.
Yesterday, the lab tested 253 samples, and they identified 65 new coronavirus cases. That's a positive rate of 26%.
Those appositives were led by the Orange Walk District, where there were 40 cases.
The Director of Health Services also reports that 32 more patients have recovered, and so, only 35.9% of the identified cases remain active at this time.
