Parliament's Plan For Poverty

With a new parliament, comes a new B-PAHM - the Belize Parliamentary Alliance Against Hunger and Malnutrition. A press release issued today says that the new alliance reconvened yesterday in Belmopan, and was chaired Speaker of the House, Valerie Woods. Critical support comes from various ministers, opposition members and Senators.

According to Speaker Woods, the alliance is an example of inter-ministerial, bi-partisan and joint alliances between the House and the Senate. She added that Belize's health statistics in relation to food insecurity, under-nutrition, obesity, and non communicable diseases highlight the critical need for the country to have a long-term commitment to promote healthier lifestyles.
