Turning now to COVID news - Belize Water Services Limited reports that 400 of its 403 - or 99% of its employees have gotten vaccinated for COVID 19 - with 389 of them - 95% - being fully vaccinated.
A release says that one employee died from COVID early in the pandemic and, since then 77 employees have tested positive for the virus - but, quote, "none of them became critically ill or had to be hospitalized; in fact, they have been medically cleared to return to work in fairly short time spans. This provides statistical proof that the vaccines work." End quote.
The company adds, quote, a reliable continuous supply of potable water is essential to homes, workplaces, schools, and, even more so, to hospitals and health care facilities. It is therefore critical for BWS staff with their specialized skills to remain healthy in order to keep our facilities and our services operating for the protection of public health." End quote.
