And as the Minister of Human Development, Families & Indigenous Peoples' Affairs, Dolores Balderamos Garcia also gave the House an update on Desiree Meggs:

Dolores Balderamos-Garcia, PUP Rural Central

"In relation to Ms. Meggs, we do have to address the difficulties in the system. There are too many difficulties in the system. I believe that working together with the ministry of the public service and across government departments and ministries, we can move from the snail mail and the big files. We can go digital and we can try to make sure that problems like this do not happen. Ms. Meggs is losing her sight. I think she has to go for treatment in Guatemala and so I believe that the right thing for this government to do is to support her."

Later on in the meeting the Prime Minister also addressed the Meggs issue saying they are trying to work it out - and he added that, according to his information Ms Meggs had been overpaid for years.
