Tonight, the city of Belmopan remains on high alert because of two cases of meningitis that have been confirmed in school children. They are both boys: one is 9 from United Evergreen, the other is 5 from St Ann's Anglican.
The 9 year old is named Jayce Brown and he is on life support at the KHMH - and the community is leading an active prayer group for him.
The Ministry of Health and Wellness confirmed with us today that the lab has confirmed their preliminary findings of streptococcal bacteria
The other case for the 5 year old is stable and being treated.
The Ministry wishes to inform the public that they continue to actively work with its surveillance team to monitor other students at both Evergreen and St Anns Primary School.
