And after we spoke with Herrera we followed up with the Women's Department on some of the claims that she made in regards to housing and support.

Their Human Development Coordinator explained how they go about ensuring that each case receives the support that they need depending on the circumstances these women find themselves in.

Cynthia Williams, Human Development Coordinator, Gender Affairs Department
"Normally when it comes to specific cases of support that we are giving to clients that come to the department and the ministry overall we have a very strict confidentiality policy. However it may seem that Ms Tanya has publicly indicated that she is working with us and so we have supported the person on multiple areas."

"Like many cases that we deal with in terms of domestic violence, gender based violence cases each case is very different. We work with each client according to the Needs of that person and of the family as well. In most cases there are children that accompany them and so while there may be particular time frames at this point a lot of them we go beyond those established time frames because we recognize that the needs that they have go beyond so in most of the spaces we go for more time in terms of the provision of rent in addition to the provision of food which are the most basic needs. As part we also provide support for educational needs of the children, that includes if we have to provide uniforms, books and fees for them whether in primary school or secondary school, those are some of the areas we also lend support and in for those who come to get our support."
