Two weeks ago we told you about a group of Jamaicans that came to Belize on a British Cruise line called Marella, escaped from the tourism village, and proceeded to abscond.
At the time the Commissioner of police had to suppose that their intent was to sneak into Belize and then make their way north to the U.S. But if that was indeed their intent they've made such a route, not to mention getting a job on a cruise ship, much more difficult for their countrymen by being banned from the cruise line that hired them.
Marella Cruises has announced that it will no longer accept Jamaican nationals on one of its signature ships, the Marella Discovery 2. It's a direct result of the incident that took place here in Belize.
To date, 7 people escaped Belizean authorities while some were returned to the ship.
