19 passengers onboard a Tropic Air flight had quite the scare this morning when the plane ran off the runway at the Phillip Goldson International Airport.

The airline has confirmed that at about 9:15 this twin engine Otter Aircraft landed at the International Airport and was taxi-ing to the gate when the pilot experienced nose wheel steering problems. That caused the pilot to lose control of the plane and it veered off the runway.

None of the passengers or crew were hurt and all safely disembarked the plane. As you can see there was no structural damage to the plane and shortly after it was pushed back onto the runway.

Tropic Air flew in one of its engineers from San Pedro to service the plane. The Department of Civil Aviation is not investigating the matter because they say it was an incident, not an accident.

An "incident" bit it still forced the closure of the runway at the country's only international airport for up to 40 minutes.
