Cadet Henderson, CEO – Ministry of Works
“Of the contracts to be signed today, we have one that involves major repairs to the low level timber bridge in San Ignacio-Santa Elena, the so-called Macal low level bridge. A bridge for Cristo Rey, the Cristo Rey bridge has been out of commission for many years. We had a detour there that washed away almost every year which was a culvert. We are doing culverts as well in Santa Familia, the Roaring River Bridge in Teakettle, across the Roaring Creek which has been down since this event of last year and literally tourists have to drive through the water, a new bridge will be constructed there. The Western Highway from San Ignacio to Benque, all those defects there will be addressed, restoring good riding quality. At the Iguana Creek Bridge vicinity we will be restoring again defects that resulted from the flooding that occurred in that area as well as to restore, improve skid resistance to the bridge.”
Most contractors will begin work immediately.
