The Supreme Court Building - it's one of the most historic in Belize City - but it has been battered over time by storms, fires and neglect. And, that neglect, combined with Hurricane Lisa forced the closure of the building for urgent repairs.
Over a year later the repairs are still ongoing - and the high and low courts are scattered like lost satellites across multiple city office complexes, waiting for the mothership to re-boot.
In her address at the Tuesday's opening of the legal year, the Chief Justice said it's been a challenge - both working in an ill suited setting, and wasting for government to de-reserve funds:
