The Senate Special Committee conducting the probe into Social Security met again yesterday in Belmopan. Members reviewed mortgage documents covering properties which were used to secure loans under government's securitization programme. Though no findings have been disclosed, its been widely rumored that the often insufficient mortgage documents are at the heart of the corruption that accompanied the securitization programme. Committee members also reviewed the response from the Social Security Board pertaining to the $43 million in loans given to the soon to be liquidated DFC. According to a release, committee members felt that Social Security's Response did not clearly state what are the securities for these loans from the Social Security Board.
