Today the national strike called by the Teachers and the Public Service Union continued as an official position of the union executives. But on the ground, the vast majority of teachers and public workers across the country ignored the call to strike and reported to work as usual. School managements reported that for the second day of the strike, school continued as usual, with notable but not crippling absences reported in Belize City and throughout the Cayo District. But the unions are undeterred, they went on the public relations offensive this morning, booking time on the radio morning shows. They also got a major boost from the Water Workers Union which today instituted water outages as a part of the Trade Union Congress' protest against government. Water supply was cut at 2:00 this afternoon and will be cut every morning and every afternoon, until Friday.
