Will the Prime Minister shuffle his Cabinet? That's been the speculation for weeks and today we asked the PM if and when it will happen.
Jules Vasquez,
Sir are you contemplating an imminent shuffle of your Cabinet?
Rt. Hon. Said Musa, Prime Minister of Belize
"I am looking at the whole issue, yes. Imminent? I am not sure if that is the proper word to use but it would be true to say that the people voted for some type of change in the direction on the part of government and I don't think its enough to have a change in policies, as we are doing, but maybe there's also a need to see how best people fit into a particular ministry that they can perform best and so I am examining all that."
Janelle Chanona, News 5
Will there be a downsize or will you be bringing in new people?
Rt. Hon. Said Musa,
"I haven't decided on that yet."
Jules Vasquez,
Sir but its been 7 weeks. Is your inaction an indication of indecision and in fact indecision, as they say, is worse than wrong decision?
Rt. Hon. Said Musa,
"No, it's a case of wanting to ensure that I give it due consideration, that I pray over it, and make the right decision."
Jules Vasquez,
Might that include the removal of Ralph Fonseca or a downsizing of Ralph Fonseca? It is widely perceived, though not proved by an empirical evidence that he is the reason people voted against the PUP, the policies that he endorsed which has the government behind the 8 ball financially, so to speak.
Rt. Hon. Said Musa,
"Well that may well be the position of Channel 7. I am not sure how widespread that is. But what I can tell you is I haven't any final decision on any particular Minister."
