In its first meeting today, the new Senate approved the appointment of three ambassadors. Audrey Joy Grant will be Belize’s Ambassador to the kingdom of Belgium – resident in Belgium, and Belize‘s representative to the European Union, European Commission and the World Trade Organization. Grant made her name locally as the head of programme for Belize.
Chendo Urbina’s appointment to serve as Ambassador to Mexico was also approved. Urbina was the defeated UDP candidate in Orange Walk Central and is the owner of the chain of A&R Stores. And Said ‘Badi’ Guerra Hannah was confirmed as the new Ambassador to Cuba. Badi Guerra is the former UDP Mayor of Benque Viejo Town.
All three ambassadorial appointments had the support of the Opposition.
