Of course, it’s now gone from a land issue to straight politics, and Trench Sandiford’s political opponent had nothing nice to say about her criticisms today. Here are his comments.
Hon. Patrick Faber, Area Representative –Collet
“That is politics. Let them not trick you. You ask them where they’ve been for the last year and a half since the PUP lost the election. They have been non-existent. We Da Fu Collet? They are not for Collet. That is pure politics; they were a PUP entity. I don’t know who appointed Carolyn to get out there and make mischief by giving out these fake leases that are now creating a whole lot of problems in that area when she gave lease documents to people who other people are already living on the land and all of this, it is a mess and it is primarily because of her and the neglect of the PUP for the five years. She issued leases that are not valid. In fact there is no record in some cases. It was really just a gimmick for the election. She should be ashamed of herself to be talking like that now.”
And while we’ve heard from the politicians and the developer, the Ministry of Natural Resources which sold 9 areas in a public reserve still hasn’t said anything. Yesterday, the Ministry’s press officer promised a release after she spoke to the Minister – but we could not reach her today.
