Mark King has emerged as one of the most memorable whistleblowers in modern political history. In August of 2008, when he was an elected councilor he came out swinging against his Mayor Zenaida Moya Flowers, accusing her of corruption, nepotism, and mismanagement.
For that outburst, King was barred from offering himself for the next city councilor convention. He served out that minor political exile and re-emerged two weeks ago, entering his name as a candidate for the Lake Independence UDP convention. But the old soldier has been…shot down….
This afternoon he received a letter from the party informing him that the ethics committee reviewed the matter and his application for candidacy is disapproved.
King today told us he is saddened and has already written an appeal. He calls it unconstitutional, unfair, and biased and simply a ploy to keep him out of a race he says he will win.
We'll have an interview with King tomorrow.
