The Gungulung area is getting a much-needed street upgrade from its UDP Standard Bearer, Dianne Finnegan. Residents have complained for years about the disastrous conditions of roads in the area - years during which the UDP government has been in power.
Since the area representative has been PUP's Cordel Hyde, Finnegan said that the matter was out of her hands.
But now, three weeks before elections, she has embarked on this project but insists that her motives are not political.

"This is not just because of politics but I've been doing this all my adult life where I speak out for the less fortunate; I speak out about the inhumane conditions that voters, these are voters, and even if they didn't vote because they feel hopeless, these are residents of this country, and deserve better living conditions. These people have been living like this for over ten years, more than that, and you're picking three weeks before elections to visit them."

"People say what they are comfortable saying. I've been speaking about the inhumane conditions of humanity that people, especially my youths, lived in for many many years. And because no one hears when I speak out about it, I have to get in there and do it myself. If I have the funds, oh my gosh, what wouldn't I be able to do."
Lewis Lee, Resident, Lake I
