And onto another land issue, as we told you yesterday, the former chairperson of the Toledo Maya Land Rights Commission has switched sides and is now representing an ecological reserve which owns thousands of acres of private land opposite the indigenous territory of Indian Creek Village.

She was called out by Minister of Indigenous Affairs, Dolores Balderamos Garcia and spokesperson for the Maya Leadership Alliance, Christina Coc.

Today, we asked the Minister of Natural Resources his comments, but he said he was not adequately informed on the matter.

Hon. Cordel Hyde - Deputy Prime Minister "In this country we have to stop talking at each other and talk to each other you know, it's kind of tragic you end up with a situation where the former liaison for the government on the communal land issue suddenly change sides and is very critical of the whole process. Hopefully they can get together and work that out."

A public announcement by Alamilla's group declared that three large parcels of land opposite Indian Creek village, quote "comprising 12876 plus acres are private property and are not crown lands or communal lands." End quote. We expect this will be a source of protracted contention.
