The PM also fired back at the unions, parroting the words of many in the private sector: where was the union during the last 13 years of the Barrow Administration?

Speaking to his Director of the Press Office, he stated that the unions cannot expect the PUP to fix all the country's issues in six months.

He also added that they have been working towards that with the good governance legislation that the unions have been hounding them for.

Hon. John Briceno - Prime Minister "Some of these union members that are hurling accusations at us, they've been in there for 13 years, what is it that they did for the past 13 years? Why didn't they be making noise and talking about the waste and the corruption that took place during the past 13 years? And now they expect us in less than 6 month we're going to fix it? If I had a magic wand, I let it just disappear, I'll happily do that. If I could sign a paper and it disappears, I'd be happy to do that but it's a process and we're fully and totally committed to the process. We've already agreed that we're going to present legislation to go after people that are corrupting government and also not about the ministers but even the public officers that are corrupt. The issue of the illicit unjust wealth and the illicit government assets, all of that is going to be addressed and we're working on that, so we have that commitment. We are at the point of setting up the constitutional reform committee, which is going to be broad based, it will include not only the unions and the NGOs but the private sector, the churches, everybody for us to be able to see how better we can improve and strengthen the laws of this country, strengthen the constitution to protect the interest of the Belizean people and also to protect the interest of Belize."
