Attorney General Magali Marin's last name is also making news tonight because her 80 year old father's apparently gotten a job with the Ministry of Agriculture.
To be sure, Florencio Marin Sr is a political legend - who went undefeated for over 40 years in Corozal Southeast. He retired in 2008 after a brief and inglorious run as Minister of Natural Resources. That's when he handed the reins for the constituency over to his son, Florencio Jr. - who has maintained his father's winning streak for 4 terms.
But now - in what appears to be a bizarre extension of the gravy train - it seems the elder Marin is being retained on a one year contract as an advisor the Ministry of Agriculture for the annual salary of $36,000 dollars.
This is according to a Ministry of Agriculture memo dated April 26th. We reached out to the Minister of Agriculture to confirm this - but at news time - he had not responded.
We should note that Marin Sr's son and daughter are presently Cabinet members.
