And while the UDP chairman will have to come down on one side of the other of that argument over signatures - and you can kinda already tell which way he's leaning….he says one issue he's happy to not have to take an opinion on is the return of Patrick Faber. After months of resistance and refusal, Faber posted on Saturday that he'd fall in line with the directive of the National Party Council and remove all Facebook posts from his page.
Those posts are why the nominations committee rejected his application as a candidate - so now that they are gone, will he be accepted as the candidate in Collett, or has he closed the stable door after the horse bolted?
Peyrefitte expressed his relief at not having to adjudicate that one:
Michael Peyrefitte - UDP Senator
"If the nominations committee decides that they are satisfied with what Mr. Faber has done and they allow him to run again, that's for the nominations committee. If they are not satisfied, that's for the nominations committee. So that is for them and I won't even want to give the impression that I can say anything that would influence them in any way."

"Even though the deadline has passed?"
Michael Peyrefitte - UDP Senator
"Like I say, the nominations committee made a decision in a letter to Mr. Faber, that at this time and I think even the other person, I think it was Ian Jones said publicly that if Mr. Faber were to abide by the rules of the NPC and he himself would step down. The nominations committee did not say no, none at all you can't run. They say at this time we don't believe that you are qualified."

"Is it too late for him through?"
Michael Peyrefitte - UDP Senator
"That's for the nominations committee."
