Tonight, many UDP's might be scratching their heads trying to figure out who their real party leader is. That's after Tracy Taegar Panton sent out this release a few hours ago. It lays bold claim to the sole leadership of the UDP and basically tells Shyne Barrow to pack up and go home.
The release says, quote, "following the valid and democratic decision made at the UDP Unity National Convention held on October 20, 2024, Hon. Moses Shyne Barrow is no longer the Leader of the United Democratic Party.
Effective immediately, Mr. Barrow is not authorized to act on behalf of the UDP in any capacity, including soliciting or collecting funds in the name of the Party. Any person or organization approached for donations or financial contributions by Mr. Barrow under the guise of Party leadership is advised to refrain from doing so, as such actions are not sanctioned by the UDP." End quote.
And while the statement is surely eyebrow raising, it also alludes to a sense of desperation since Shyne Barrow continues to control the party headquarters, it's bank account, and its secretariat - even if both sides are currently claiming the letter head.
