UDP Senator Sounds Alarm On Constitutional Amendment

And Senator Sheena Pitts spoke on the 13th amendment which was recently tabled in the National Assembly.

The controversial amendment seeks to make it easier for government to declare SOE's, and includes provisions for special areas for public safety and public order, the establishment of a Gun and Gang Court, and retroactive validation of past emergency declarations.

Senator Pitts characterized the amendment as sinister and corrosive of citizens constitutional rights:

The bill goes to public consultations in mid July and the UDP is urging the public to come out and reject it.
