And even though the Prime Minister has appointed himself as the new interim Minister of Defence, we asked Martinez whether he would have taken the seat if asked.

"No, I have not. I am focused on the Ministry of Economic Transformation. We have some medium and long-term plans that we have been working on with the Prime Minister, so at no point have I been offered it, and I serve at the pleasure of the Prime Minister."

"Is it that you feel you would not be best suited for this position, or you don't have the expertise in that area?"
Osmond Martinez
"I serve at the pleasure of the Prime Minister. Where he feels that I can serve better, that is where I will serve. Nonetheless, my expertise is in economics and I believe I am in the right place at this moment."
Jomarie Lanza
"But if he were to offer it to you, would you take it?"

"It is something I would have to think about, pray about it, and discuss it with my family."
