Last year, Dr. Marvin Manzanero, the former Director of Health Service, was hit by a nasty bout of COVID-19. This was during the time when he was the face of Belize's fight against the virus.
Initially, after his recovery, Dr. Manza was still suffering from persistent effects of the virus, but several months have since passed. And now, he's returning back to one of his most physically taxing activities. He intends to run once again in a marathon in Placencia in a few weeks.
He discussed it this morning with the Sunup hosts when the topic came up:
Bringing Christmas Cheer To Kids In Ladyville
And while Dr. Manza prepares for his half marathon, Kevin Dawson is in the middle of preparations for his first-ever charity event. The Ladyville resident, who is a chef by trade, wants to spread a little Christmas goodwill and cheer among needy children within his home village and Lords Bank.
Dawson is well aware that disposable income is hard to come by in these pandemic times. But he's hoping that Belizeans at home and abroad will reach down into their pockets and help him give low-income families a gift of hope.
This afternoon, he dropped by our offices to discuss this charity event:
If you would like to contribute to Dawson's charity event, you can reach him on Facebook, or on telephone number 624-3527.
