And to add to all this innovation, how soon should we see Belize's first weather app up and running? Chief Met Ronald Gordon says that the app includes a variety of features that will change Belize's Agro Met future. He gave us more details on the app today.
Ronald Gordon, Chief Met Officer
"The weather App is already available to download on Google play so if you have an android phone at the moment - we don't have it ready yet for Apple - but we do have an app for the android phone. If you have an android phone you can go on Google play type in "Belize Weather", and download our Weather app. We are going to do an official lunch so I pre-empt this launch by saying this as well. But we will do one official lunch very soon so that persons know that the app is out there and they can use it. The current version of the app is in its initial phase. It's going to display only weather and climate information with a forecast. It's going to give us the tropical weather Outlook you can actually track the hurricanes also on that app because it has a map on that section where you can track and look at the track of the tropical systems coming our way, but then there is going to be another phase under the same project that will enhance it specifically for farmers so you will have different components that tell farmers the risk of pesticides, if it is a good day to do irrigation and that type of information that farmers could use."
