A tropical wave sweeping across Belize today brought a wet and windy start to the morning with heavy gusts damaging wooden docks in St. George's Caye and a thatch structure in Hopkins Village.

This morning after 8:00, tropical storm-level winds above 40 mph whipped into communities along Belize's coast.

In Belize City, winds surpassed 40 miles per hour, and in St. George's Caye, the reading was 45 miles per hour.

No heavy flooding was reported. The Met Office says that moist and unstable weather conditions continue to prevail over most areas.
