As we reported earlier in this newscast, fuel prices shot up over the weekend - topping out at a record $7.66 a gallon for premium gas in Belize City.

But not even that bad news could stop the frenzy of more than 2,000 four-wheel hungry Belizeans who stopped in at the 6th annual auto show.

Twenty-five new vehicles were sold over the two-day event but hundreds more flocked to the tourism village to look at, maybe sit in, or even just touch a spanking new ride.

Our Keith Swift fit in somewhere there and has the highlights from auto show 2004.

Keith Swift Reporting,
Belize's passion-driven love affair with cars, and specifically new cars was in overdrive this weekend at the 2004 Auto Show.

Auto Show Visitor #1,
"Well we love vehicles all of us, the entire family love vehicles and children they really love to come and watch the vehicles. I am thinking of coming and buying a 4-wheel drive vehicle so I came out to see what they look like."
