So while you can find fuel freely this weekend as the hauling crisis may be over - another is on the horizon - and this one isn't going away anytime soon.

Just 8 days after OPEC cut back production by 6 million barrels a day - the effect is being felt in Belize like a bullet. On Monday at midnight, fuel prices are scheduled to go up by a whopping 28 cents for premium, 23 cents for regular, 7 cents for diesel.

In Belize City - which enjoys the lowest prices countrywide -; a gallon of premium fuel will cost $7.90. In southern Belize where transport costs are added, the price will be as high as $8.14 a gallon for premium.

Overall it's a crippling hike, and the only good news is that kerosene is going down by four cents. Industry experts predict that at this rate - if government does not at some point absorb the increase - the next three months could see more startling increases as OPEC plans to cut back production for three months.

Again, these increases do not go into effect until Monday at midnight, so our advice to you tonight is again, to buy your gas now, while you can still afford it!
