There was a Gold Rush at the Courts main store this Saturday as one lucky customer got the chance to spin their way to big bucks in the first Gold Rush show.

Keith Swift was there to see how much Sharon Martinez would spin to win and stayed for the show.

Keith Swift Reporting,
On Saturday some people, like advertising entrepreneur Denvor Fairweather, were at the Courts main store for a free t-shirt while others, like Ensworth Tzul, spun their way to free prizes (in his case a free refrigerator.) And then there was Sharon Martinez who was the first winner in the store's Gold Rush promotion.

Sharon Martinez, Gold Rush Winner
"I am relaxed. I wasn't really excited because I didn't know what it was about but now I will try to buy more and you know try to get more involved in it."

But all that - the t-shirts, prizes, and even Sharon's $1,500 check - was just a sideshow as most came to see the big show.

All my life I've been dreaming
Want my life to have meaning
But today my life will change
I'll be shopping at Courts
Courts is Blinging
There is a Gold Rush at Courts...Yeah!

Rafael Martinez is hosting the gold rush show alongside two local showgirls and he says it is all good.

Rafael Martinez, Host of Courts' Gold Rush Show
"It's an interaction. It's a place where you can bring the family out on Saturday morning for example and you can actually get some good deals in the meantime and have fun. We have children participating, adults participating, so it's a very good avenue where you can come and interact as a family. It's a family outing."

Keith Swift,
"I think every Belizean man wants to know what is it like having your own two show girls?"

Rafael Martinez,
"Oh man as snug as a bug in a rug. I feel so great to be amongst beautiful company. I think the only I can say is oh yeah!"

What is also true is that the show - the lights, camera, and dancers is costing Courts. But Marketing Manager Anamarie Bennett says it's worth it because Courts is no longer just in the business of selling furniture and electronics - they are also in the business of entertainment.

Ana Marie Bennett, COURTS Marketing Manager
"Of course it is. Well just looking around at the amount of people we have here. And the customers appreciate getting something back from us. I totally enjoy giving back to the community."

And by the looks of things - the community is enjoying it.
