In September of last year Martha Palma appeared on 7NEWS as testament to everything that can go wrong in a bad relationship.

At the time she claimed that she was beaten by her common law husband so severely that her jaw was broken, he left foot was broken and she also bore a number of bruises and other injuries.

But despite all that, today 37-year-old Emerson Eligio appeared in Supreme Court and walked away a free man. The crown was forced to enter a no case submission and he was set free.

Back in February of this year Palma herself had asked that the charges be withdrawn but the prosecution chose to proceed with charges of attempted murder, grievous harm, attempted dangerous harm and attempted suppression of evidence and he was indicted to stand trial.

On September 10th of last year Palma alleged that she was beaten with a 2' by 4' piece of wood causing her injuries. At the time she vowed to follow through with charges until justice had been served but that was short lived as today she appeared in court in support of her common law.
