The Belize Business Bureau and the Chamber of commerce and Industry have no real political power but anyone will tell you they have lobby power, which is just as good.
That's why today when the Youth for the Future Secretariat launched Belize's first Junior Chamber of Commerce it got our attention. At this morning's launch YFF Director Nuri Muhammad says you can liken the Junior Chamber to its bigger brothers at the Belize Business Bureau and Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
Nuri Muhammad, Youth For the Future Director
"It is opened to any youths involved in business, north south east and west. As a matter of fact we want to have a vision where even young Belizean entrepreneurs in the US that are hearing about this can set up a network with businesses here. We are trying to set up a forum that is very innovative. The young people themselves will come up with different ideas to make them work."
The Junior Chamber has already signed a memorandum of understanding with the Business Bureau and is in talks to do the same with Chamber of Commerce and Industry. Young entrepreneurs can join the Junior Chamber by contacting Sandra Bradshaw at the Youth for the Future secretariat.
