What's next for Intelco? Well the company has restructured its management and the man calling the shots now is owner, chairman and now CEO, Glenn Godfrey. Godfrey is courting a number of investors including Digicel out of Jamaica, AT&T and ICC.
Our sources tell us that government is pushing for ICC to make the deal but Intelco's Trinidadian creditors, would prefer other purchasers. At this point, best reports indicate, that could mean Digicel which has established parity in the Jamaican cellular market in a short time. That's why Godfrey is pushing the company to complete interconnection so whoever buys the company would have to pay that value added.
As we reported last night (see Intelco fires top execs), apart from pushing for interconnection Intelco has cut off much of the fat from the top as CEO Juan Mackenzie and Steve Anderson along with a host of Panamanian consultants have been released. One man who has not been released is Director of Operations Ivan Tesecum. Contrary to last night's report which placed him as a victim of restructuring, Tesecum called our office today to say he is still working at Intelco, through the transition.
