Fuel: the pump price is at a record high and government is investigating itself to cut down on abuses. After a 6 week internal review, 7NEWS has confirmed that a file involving gas abuses by 4 minister's drivers has been turned over to police.
Our investigation shows that these drivers would fill up two or possibly more vehicles with gas, and cover all those bills on the minister's bill. The gas station attendants who carried out the illegality would get a cut as well, as the driver would sign for even more that the inflated volume of gas than he got, leaving the attendant with the difference in cash. This got so out of hand, in Orange Walk, one Minister's driver would regularly sign for 100 gallons of diesel fuel. Criminal charges may now follow against those drivers, and the car care unit is next launching an investigation into possible abuses by contract officers.
