BTIA Speaks on SSB Irregularities

And while work by some board members to have the extent of financial exposure by the SSB's money is starting another organization the Belize Tourism Industry Association came out today condemning the use of public money to finance private entities. The BTIA is requesting a public review of all investments and guarantees made by the Belize Social security board on behalf of private companies and other bodies. It further asks for a financial audit and full disclosure of documents relating to the investments and guarantees.

BTIA is the fifth non-governmental organization to call on action. Others who have done the same include SPEAR, the Chamber of Commerce, the Belize Business Bureau, and the National Trade Union Congress of Belize.
