On Saturday the Courts Gold Rush promotion will end with the biggest draw yet. $100,000 will be up for grabs and today 5 customers came closer to winning it.
This morning a small crowd gathered at the Courts main branch as the year-long Gold Rush promotion came down to $100,000 and 5 names. 5 names which were in this barrel among thousands.
Ana Marie Bennett, Courts Marketing Manager
"There are thousands of tickets in there. We gave out double entries for Christmas so for every $50 spent, people got double entries so its thousands. I don't have that exact figure."
"Only one person will get to win $100,000 but the prizes, that we used to give for consolation prizes, for the other people used to be products valued up to $500 but we have increased that value. We have products now with the maximum being $2,999 so the value is much higher."
But the battle for the big prize will come down to one customer on Saturday during the show which will be hosted by Rafael Martinez.
Rafael Martinez, Gold Rush Host
"One person will be given that opportunity to win up to $100,000 tax free dollars, all taxes paid for by Courts."
Ana Marie Bennett,
"A $100,000 tax free and that means the customer takes the exact check with $100,000 home. And you know with a $100,000 you can do many things: you can buy a house and furnish it...the opportunities are endless with $100,000."
The customers chosen this morning are Sister Carolee Chanona, Frederick Haylock, Vetaline Mitchell, and Ana Patricia Bol all from Belize City along with Michael Garbutt from mile 8. Saturday's Gold Rush show starts at 11. During this morning's draw, Courts customer Dorla Lamb's name was chosen as the winner of a pair of roundtrip tickets on American Airlines to the United States.
