The owners of BWSL never agreed with the 17% increase they got last year and since then they've been fighting to get more. Well tonight, they have gotten some.
The Public Utilities Commission has agreed to a 50 cent increase on every 1,000 gallons consumed. That means for every one thousand gallons you use, you'll pay 50 cents more. It's a modest increase and the catch is that it does not apply to those who use less than a thousand gallons a month. Neither does it apply to water consumers on San Pedro.
And while the PUC did grant that modest increase to level out BWSL's earnings, it flatly dismissed the company's claim that it had run into additional expenses because of having to treat the high aluminum content of water at the Double Run Water facility.
