In a week's time, you'll be able to buy shares in your water company, BWSL.

Starting November 30th shares will be available for $1.50 each. Purchasers must buy a minimum of 100 shares or $150 worth and it can be paid for in Belize or U.S. dollars. Those buying more than 1,500 shares though will have to pay in U.S. dollars or by a bankers' cheque. The offer will be open for two months until then end of January.

Government is selling 33 million shares, 82% of the company and, most likely, the majority of these shares will end up going not to the public, but to a strategic investor.

It's left to be seen if the shares will generate more interest than the BTL shares. That offering has closed and government hasn't released any public accounting but 7NEWS is informed that less than 2% of the 5% in BTL shares that were offered, were sold. That's no problem for government thought, because the underwriter, an Ashcroft company, simply scooped up the difference.
