The Novelo's brothers' National Bus Service has been awarded runs by the Transport Board and, predictably, Novelo's the receiver is none too pleased. Apparent proof of that came powerfully to hundreds of stranded commuters this morning when Novelo's stopped all runs for a couple of hours between 7 and 9 a.m. We are unable to verify who instigated the halt in service but we do know that by 10, all the Novelo runs were back on schedule.

Novelo's boss Bob Garcia refused to comment, but there are reports that Novelo's employees were upset this morning when the police launched an operation on the Western Highway and gave cautions to a number of that company's busses. A release from the Ministry of Transport states that arrangements are being made with road service provider to fill any gaps created in the provision of service. Again, it appears that there may be a time of hostility between the regulator and the national operator, which can only translate into industry instability, and inconvenience and uncertainty for commuters.
