Courts Belize Limited this morning had a media launch to introduce the mega-store's new promotion. It's called the Courts Jacpot and, curiously, that's spelled "j"-"a"-"c" - pot, as in "jack" without the "k". While we may never fully unravel that little lingual lacuna, what we did find out is how customers will get the opportunity to win thousands of dollars in prizes. The man now known as Mr. Magic, formerly known as Captain Hook, has traded in his hook for a wand and waved it to give us the answers.
Rafael Martinez,
"Every month one person will be selected from each branch so basically we have seven names that will be selected to win big prizes right here and it ranges from gas to grocery supplies to home improvement, you could win cash and other prizes of course plus at the end of the year, the same seven persons, because let me just reiterate...because there are six draws, forty two names will be selected by the end of the year and out of those forty two names, one person can walk away with a very brand Jimmy Suzuki vehicle worth over $40,000. And so it is a very big promotion and just in case anybody hits the jackpot, Courts will be giving away up to $350,000 and that doesn't include the taxes alone because the taxes alone are $74,000 and Courts will be absorbing all those taxes."
The first Jacpot draw will take place on May second.
