You heard what SSB boss Narda Garcia had to say about BWS earlier this week, and today a late evening release from the Belize Water Services Workers Union says that the employees of BWS still want to buy the company, but GOB has "issues." The release states that the issue came up when government instructed BWS to withdraw its application for an increase in water rates.

At the time, government said it would work with BWS to consider alternatives to meet the company's targets. In early May, BWS wrote to the Prime Minister offering 5 options to make up the revenue shortfall. According to the workers release, those options were not as burdensome as the concessions given to foreign investors.

Still, the Prime Minister has not responded, and now the workers union says it remains, "very desirous" of acquiring majority ownership in the company.
