It's not the kind of structure that will inspire awe in onlookers, but a new lunch shed at All Saints School will serve a meaningful purpose. Everyday of the 700 plus students that attend the school, more than 500 of them remain in or around the school to have lunch. It's quite a challenge for teachers and administrators to contend with and today the shed was opened in the hopes that more students stay within the compound, where they can be monitored more closely.
Principal,
"It is going to provide a place where our children can sit in a comfortable environment and enjoy the lunch because so many of them are at school and they can't go home for lunch. This is an addition to our first canteen. Normally what they do is that some would sit in the canteen and that can only hold about 50 at a time. Other than that they would sit on the church steps, they would sit in the classroom or anywhere else that they could stand or sit. It does create a controlled environment where they can be better monitored. They can be monitored because they will be in one place, enjoying this place also."
The shed cost $8,100.
