Labor tensions at Belize Food Packers Limited in Corozal are considerably cooler tonight after they boiled over last night when a reported one hundred workers walked off the job. The beef with management was over preferential treatment given to a group of about 16 workers from Guinea Grass.
Apparently the other workers, most of them from Corozal, were unhappy with various working conditions. It crippled operations at the plant until about three this afternoon when the workers returned to the production line. Belize Food Products is a subsidiary of Fruta Bomba Limited - the multinational local affiliate of Brooks Tropicals which grows papayas in the northern districts. Belize Food Packers is located in San Andres Village.
