Since the collapse of the Novelo's Bus Company in 2004, the Novelo brothers have been gradually making inroads back into public transportation. Even though the DFC Inquiry says still have taxpayers in the hole for $30 million - last year the brothers started National Transport Bus Line as well as a local city run. And the news tonight is that they've added another line of buses. Their new company is called "Premier Line" and today it launched daily express runs from Belize City to Chetumal. Executive Secretary Linda Trejo told us more.

Linda Trejo, Executive Secretary - Premier Line
"It is a direct to Chetumal stopping at Orange Walk and Corozal for five minutes only; no Palotti junction, no Biltmore, nowhere else. The cost is $16."

Keith Swift,
What are amenities onboard?

Linda Trejo,
"It is a first class air conditioned, bathroom facilities, and television."

Keith Swift,
Is this owned by the Novelo brothers?

Linda Trejo,
"It is an affiliate of National Transport."

Keith Swift,
Why is this such big news, why should we be happy?

Linda Trejo,
"I don't think you should be happy. I think the public should be happy. They have a choice, first class, air conditioned. I personally would be happy if I was a customer."

Premier buses depart from the old Novelo's Terminal on West Collet Canal at 6 am, 9 am, and 11 am daily. There are plans to add premier runs to Dangriga and Benque.
