Flood waters in southern Belize have not only taken a toll on families in the Stann Creek District but the offices of the Belize Citrus Growers’ Association were also devastated. In a press release issued by the CGA it states that it lost one hundred percent of office computers, furniture, infrastructure and inventory supplies. As a result CGA states that the plan is to be partially operational by Monday June ninth.
CGA has also established an emergency relief fund for the personal needs of citrus growers and their families who suffered as result of the floods. Growers and others are being encouraged to contribute to the fund either in cash or kind. Cheques can be made out to CGA emergency relief fund.
Meanwhile their CCB plant remains open daily for receiving fruit from seven in the morning until seven in night.
