SMART customers are able to make long distance calls again. The company announced on Sunday evening that it has restored its international services. A statement from the company warned that the quality was not 100% but it is a work in progress.

SMART did it without turning to BTL which today sent a bulletin to staff explaining that, “action had to be taken to put an end to the unfair use of Telemedia’s resources to benefit (the) operators of SMART." The release says Telemedia offered SMART two alternatives but that company has not responded to the offers. The statement tells employees, “Telemedia cannot continue losing money to facilitate these sweetheart deals.”

And while both sides have their own spin, the PUC will have the final say as the regulator is now reviewing what it says are illegal agreements between BTL and Speednet. Those agreements were crafted by the previous management of BTL. The PUC will deliver its decision on Wednesday.
