The Next Level Project started out with ten hopefuls 6 weeks ago and on Friday night, one winner emerged. The four finalists sang their hearts out – for the chance to claim the singular distinction of being the first Next Level winner and to take home a three thousand dollar cash prize. It all played out live here on Channel 7 and here’s a recap of the show and an interview with the winner.

And if those judgments gave an indication of how the judges were leaning, it was confirmed when the winners were announced.

On Friday night we watched when Tricia Gabourel was announced as the winner of the overall song competition but if you thought she took the day off today to celebrate her victory you are mistaken. We found Miss Tricia Gabourel inside Brodie’s Pharmacy on Regent Street where she has been working as an intern pharmacist. Today she told us that as much as she was overjoyed by the good

news on Friday night she hoped everyone could have been a winner.
Tricia Gabourel, Winner - Next Level Project
“Honestly it was like bittersweet because I knew that if I came in second or third I would probably have felt the same way the other contestants felt and they looked so sad and seeing their faces made me feel sad as well but I was definitely happy and definitely proud of myself.”
Jacqueline Godwin,
“How challenging was this?”
Tricia Gabourel,
“Very challenging, especially my last song. I just tried my best that night.”
Jacqueline Godwin,
“What is the next move for Tricia?”
Tricia Gabourel,
“I am just going to keep on doing what I have been doing and singing professionally and I am hoping that I can through this show I would get enough exposure to move on and have other gigs come up. That is what I am hoping for.”
The second place finisher won two thousand dollars and third place one thousand. Since it’s a tie, we’re not sure if they’ll share it or both get the same prize.
