You know what they say about “free ting” right? Well that’s what we found out today when we rolled past that famous stretch of road at mile 31. Remember on Monday we told you that one kilometre of that slippery stretch of highway had been surfaced over the weekend with a special new technology from Guatemala?

Well today when we passed the area it looked properly – you’ll excuse the term – dreg up! The hi-tech pavement had already been completely chipped away in spots, and the pavement covered only half the road.

According to CEO in the Ministry Of Works Cadet Henderson the paving plan had to aborted – if only temporarily. He says the Belizean Guatemalan company CIDELTA had to take a break because of the weather. He says they are also re-tolling their mixture and will try again in January. In the meantime, Henderson stressed that nothing was paid to the company and no commitments were made or will be made until the material proves that it is durable enough to stand up to the elements.
