And fortunately, that fire didn't spread to the gas station, but if your vehicle uses regular gas, you should probably head there before curfew tonight. That's because regular gas is going up by 25 cents per gallon, crossing that $10 mark. Effective midnight, the cost will now be $10.06 per gallon. And while that might Mae you wince, be thankful for small mercies: last year at this time it was $10.23 per gallon.
The prices for premium gasoline, kerosene and diesel remain unchanged at $10.40, $6.75, and $9.62 for the time being.
11 New COVID Cases
While gas prices are increasing, COVID numbers are still slowly decreasing. There are now only 66 active cases confirmed in Belize. Over the past three days, there were only 11 new cases discovered. Sadly one more death accompanied this - bringing the total to 316.
Technical advisor, Kathleen Azueta Cho has the breakdown for the long weekend.
HEROES AND BENEFACTORS
And to end the news tonight, we leave you with footage from the wreath laying ceremony which took place yesterday morning at the Baron Bliss Lighthouse. Every year on March 9th, Belize celebrates National Heroes and Benefactors Day. This year, the day was observed on the 8th and Minister of Education, Francis Fonseca was present at the ceremony and placed the wreath on Bliss' grave site. Other national heroes such as George Price and Phillip Goldson are remembered on this day. Here is that footage courtesy NICH.
We leave you with that remembrance.
