The Hopkins village Road to the south will be paved.
A Memorandum of Understanding was signed today between the Ministry of Infrastructure Development, the Ministry of Tourism and Diaspora Relations, the Belize Tourism Board, and private tourism businesses. These are the parties that will cover the cost of the road works, which is estimated at 850 thousand dollars to pave 1.2 miles.
The area to be paved is the portion from GariMaya Gift Shop to Beaches and Dreams Hotel.
The need for this upgrade was a matter raised by the private sector during the destination visit to Hopkins 3 weeks ago by tourism honchos. This matter was listed as the #1 priority to support tourism development in the area. The road will now be addressed in this public/private partnership.
